History

In 1952, Dr. Enn Vallak invented the first prefabricated hot-top for regular use. The National Swedish Board for Technical Development (STU) named the Vallak® Hot-Top one of the 100 most important inventions in Sweden 1945-1980 (STU information ref. 350-1983).

In 1953, Ferrox AB was established to produce the Vallak® Hot-Top in Grythyttan, central Sweden. Since then Ferrox AB has been an effective and reliable supplier to the metal and steel industry.

In 1997, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) voted Ferrox AB ‘Company of the Week’ in Örebro County (one company was chosen in each county from a total of 256,000 companies). (To the article)

In 1998, Ferrox AB was mentioned in an article in Swedish national business daily Dagens Industri under the heading ‘The best companies in Sweden’.

In 2011, Ferrox AB was chosen by the International Entrepreneur Association in Sweden as ‘The pioneer of the year in the County of Örebro’.
